Floor Plan Cost Calculator FAQs

Common questions from Singapore homeowners — answered honestly.

What floor plan file format works?
JPG, PNG and WebP work directly. If you have a PDF, take a screenshot of the page you want and save it as JPG — every phone has a built-in screenshot tool. The clearer the dimensions on the plan, the more accurate the scale calibration.
How does the scale calibration work?
Click the two ends of any wall on the plan whose length you know. Type that length in metres or feet. The calculator works out how many pixels equal one metre on your specific plan, and every subsequent measurement uses that ratio. For best accuracy, calibrate against the longest wall you know — more pixels = less error per pixel.
Why are walls assumed to be 2.7 metres tall?
2.7m is the standard HDB ceiling height. For condos (typically 2.8-2.9m) and landed homes (3m+), wall-tiling and wall-painting quantities will be slightly under-estimated — Larry will adjust on the site visit. If you're working with taller walls, expect the wall-based numbers to come in 5-15% higher than what the calculator shows.
What about plumbing and demolition?
Those are quoted as a lumpsum during the site visit because they depend heavily on site conditions (existing pipe layout, structural surprises, debris volume). The calculator focuses on the trades that can be measured straight off the plan.
Does this save my floor plan anywhere?
Only if you submit your contact for a follow-up quote. Until you tap "Show My Estimate", everything (image, drawings, measurements) stays in your browser. When you submit, your annotated plan is saved alongside your contact details so Larry can see exactly what you drew when he calls you back. We don't share it with anyone.
Why does the price not include tiles, sanitaryware, paint upgrades?
The rates shown are labour rates for a direct contractor (no middleman). Tile material, sanitaryware, paint upgrades and similar are quoted separately because customer preferences vary so widely — basic porcelain vs imported marble can be a 10× difference in material cost for the same labour.
